How to Type ś (S with acute) on Google Docs

The letter ś does not have its own key on an English keyboard, but Google Docs still makes it easy to type. Use Insert → Special characters, or pick one of the other methods in this guide. ś appears in Polish.

Method 1: Special characters menu

  1. Click Insert → Special characters.
  2. Type "s with acute" or the code 015B in the search box, or draw the letter in the box.
  3. Click ś to insert it.

Method 2: Use your computer's shortcut

Docs accepts whatever your operating system types. On Windows use the Win+. symbols panel; on a Mac use Unicode Hex Input (hold Option and type 015B); on a Chromebook press Ctrl+Shift+U, type 015B and press Space.

Method 3: Automatic substitution

  1. Go to Tools → Preferences → Substitutions.
  2. Add a shortcut such as sss in the left column and paste ś in the right.
  3. Click OK. Typing the shortcut and a space now inserts ś.

How to type the capital Ś

The uppercase form works the same way with Shift added where a letter is typed.
