How to Type ē (E with macron) on Windows

Need ē on Windows for a name, an address or a word in another language? You do not have to copy it from a website every time. The fastest method is Win+. → Symbols, and there are a few backups below for when that one is not available.

Press Win+. (period) to open the panel.
Select the Symbols tab (Ω).
Choose the Latin symbols group and click ē.

Tick Advanced view and type 0113 in the "Go to Unicode" box.
Click Select, then Copy, and paste with Ctrl+V.

How to type the capital Ē

The uppercase form works the same way with Shift added where a letter is typed.

About the letter ē

Troubleshooting

Alt codes only work with the number pad. On a laptop without one, use Win+. or the US-International layout.
