How to Type ß (Sharp s (eszett)) on Chromebook

Need ß on Chromebook for a name, an address or a word in another language? You do not have to copy it from a website every time. The fastest method is Ctrl+Shift+U, 00df, Space, and there are a few backups below for when that one is not available.

Method 1: Unicode shortcut

  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+U. An underlined u appears.
  2. Type 00df.
  3. Press Space or Enter and ß appears.

The same shortcut works on most Linux desktops.

Method 2: US International keyboard

Add it in Settings → Device → Keyboard and inputs → Input settings → Add input methods, then switch with Ctrl+Space. Or use AltGr+S.

Method 3: German keyboard
