How to Type ĺ (L with acute) on Android

The letter ĺ does not have its own key on an English keyboard, but Android still makes it easy to type. Use Add Slovak keyboard, or pick one of the other methods in this guide. ĺ appears in Slovak.

Method 1: Long-press the letter

ĺ is not on the long-press menu of the plain English keyboard. Add the Slovak keyboard, then touch and hold l or use the key it adds.

Method 2: Add the Slovak keyboard

Open Settings → System → Languages & input → On-screen keyboard → Gboard → Languages.
Tap Add keyboard and pick Slovak.
Switch keyboards with the globe key or by holding the space bar.

Method 3: Personal dictionary shortcut

In Gboard go to Settings → Dictionary → Personal dictionary, pick your language, tap +, paste ĺ as the word and add a shortcut such as lac. Typing the shortcut then suggests ĺ.
