How to Type é (E with acute) on Chromebook

The letter é does not have its own key on an English keyboard, but Chromebook still makes it easy to type. Use Ctrl+Shift+U, 00e9, Space, or pick one of the other methods in this guide. é appears in Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian.

Method 1: Unicode shortcut

  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+U. An underlined u appears.
  2. Type 00e9.
  3. Press Space or Enter and é appears.

Method 2: US International keyboard

Add it in Settings → Device → Keyboard and inputs → Input settings → Add input methods, then switch with Ctrl+Space. Press ', then E. Or use AltGr+E.

Method 3: Spanish keyboard
