How to Type ą (A with ogonek) on Microsoft Word

The letter ą does not have its own key on an English keyboard, but Microsoft Word still makes it easy to type. Use 0105 then Alt+X, or pick one of the other methods in this guide. ą appears in Polish and Lithuanian.

Method 1: Alt+X Unicode trick

  1. Type 0105 where you want the letter.
  2. Press Alt+X. Word turns the code into ą.

Press Alt+X again to turn it back into the code. On a Mac, Word uses the macOS methods instead.

  1. Go to Insert → Symbol → More Symbols.
  2. Set "from" to Unicode (hex) and type 0105 in Character code.
